It Started With Sonny.

Tre’ Tucker didn’t set out to build a construction company. He set out to honor what his father taught him.

His father — known to everyone as “Sonny” — owned properties throughout Washington DC. From the time Tre’ was young, Sonny put tools in his hands. Repair this. Build that. Do it right. That foundation never left him.

When it was time to answer a bigger call, Tre’ joined the United States Marine Corps — to become one of the few and the proud. He trained as a CH-46 helicopter mechanic and earned the role of Plane Captain. Not a pilot — something harder to explain. Part Mr. Fix-It. Part crew chief. Part taxi director on a live flight deck. The person responsible for the aircraft, the crew, and the mission before it ever left the ground.

He deployed twice to the UAE as part of the 13th MEU SOC — Marine Expeditionary Unit, Special Operations Capable, HMM-164. Two combat tours. Desert Shield. Desert Storm. Persian Gulf War 1989–1990. He came home with a Combat Action Ribbon and the kind of discipline that doesn’t leave you.

Between combat deployments on the USS Okinawa, Tre’ was cutting hair on deck. What started on a flight line followed him around the world. Over 30 years in the industry — educating and training on stages internationally — Tre’ built a second reputation as a master educator under Tre4Hair. Some people have one gift. Tre’ Tucker has never been that person.

After the Corps, Tre’ transitioned into real estate — licensed agent, then mortgage professional — building a track record and a skill set that would serve him later. Then the market crashed. He lost three properties. Almost lost his home. But he kept the one that mattered and kept moving.

Years later, as a listing agent on a DC property approaching closing, the contractor walked off the job. Repairs needed. Deadline approaching. Tre’ looked at the work, thought about everything Sonny had taught him, and said: I can do this.

He did the work himself. The sale closed. And Sonny’s Renovations LLC was born in 2012.

Carpentry isn’t a career choice for Tre’. It’s natural. It’s in his hands. It always has been.
