Our role
The building around the systems.
Every data center, telecom facility, network hub and mission-critical support building is two projects at once: the specialized systems that make it “mission critical,” and the building that has to be designed, permitted, founded, erected, weatherproofed and finished around them. Sonny’s role is the building.
That means the structural steel and pre-engineered shell, the roofing and envelope that keep the interior environment controlled, the concrete foundations and equipment pads that carry generators, chillers, switchgear and enclosures, the support structures and screening that hold and protect them, the site work that gets vehicles and utilities in, and the interior construction for the offices, staging, storage and support spaces that keep the facility running.
For specialized electrical, mechanical, controls and mission-critical systems, Sonny’s can work alongside qualified engineering and trade partners based on project requirements — coordinating those scopes under our contract where the project calls for a single general contractor, or performing our scope as a subcontractor to a mission-critical general contractor or owner’s builder.

Does Sonny’s build data centers?
Sonny’s provides the building-construction scopes that data-center and mission-critical facilities require — shells, structural steel, roofing and envelope, foundations and equipment pads, support structures, site improvements and interior build-outs — and coordinates or partners on the specialized systems. We’re actively pursuing this market and we describe our role by capability rather than by a claimed project list.
Who handles the specialized electrical, mechanical and controls systems?
Those scopes belong to qualified specialized engineering and trade partners. Depending on the project, Sonny’s coordinates them under our contract as the general contractor, or performs our building scopes alongside the owner’s mission-critical contractor.
